A case study is an in-depth study of one person, group, or event. In a case study, nearly every aspect of the subject's life and history is analyzed to seek patterns and causes of behavior. Case studies can be used in a variety of fields including psychology, medicine, education, anthropology, political science, and social work.
The hope is that the learning gained from studying one case can be generalized to many others.
Case studies help our students gain clinical experience while practicing assessment & protocol formulation when working with family or their own clients.
How can we develop effective protocols for our clients? How do we integrate our botanical formulas into a wellness strategy that meets the client’s health goals? Many cases require us to evaluate and modify our botanical formulas over time as the client progresses through multiple stages of healing. How do we predict when a client should see improvement?
The successful clinical herbalist must integrate knowledge of the materia medica, anatomy and physiology, health and disease pattern, functional assessment, psycho-social variables and more to have a successful outcome through botanical therapies. This course will take the student through the different steps of integrating these areas to create a successful case, whether a clinic walk-up client with a single consultation, or a client following a longer-term strategy with multiple follow-ups.
We will develop strategies and tools for management of clinical cases ranging from the simple or acute (e.g. urinary tract infection) to the complex and chronic (e.g. SIBO, autoimmune diseases, metabolic syndrome) and practice intakes, SOAP notes and wellness plans.
We hope to bring this opportunity in Summer 2022!
